The Sycamore Music Boosters were presented a donation check from Stacey Kurowski at their recent monthly meeting. Stacey organized a Valentine’s Day Craft Fair at the Sycamore VFW which included 20 vendors and crafters along with a raffle. Stacey has a student in the music program and wanted to do something to show her support and help the music program, and chose to donate the profits of this event to the Sycamore Music Boosters. Stacey explains, “The music program has done great things for my daughter (socially and as a musician). This was my way of saying thank you and helping to make sure other students get to have the same opportunity. I also want to thank the amazing group of vendors that participated along with the Sycamore VFW for the use of their space. Without them and the people that stopped in to shop we wouldn’t have been able to make this happen.”
Pictured here (L to R) is Sycamore High School Music Department Chair Scott Mertens, Stacey Kurowski, and Music Boosters Vice President Bob Atkins accepting this very generous donation. Bob Atkins comments, “The Sycamore Music Boosters is very thankful for this generous donation and the amount of effort and hard work Stacey put into this event. This gift will allow the Sycamore Music Boosters to continue to support the music programs for all of our students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as to provide scholarships to those deserving Sycamore students continuing their music education in a college program.”
The Sycamore Music Boosters, a non-profit volunteer organization that supports all students in grades K-12, encourages others to consider making a donation and support the music program. Future opportunities for additional donors are always welcome! Contributions in any amount may be given by individuals, families, local businesses, and even corporations. The Sycamore Music Boosters meet the third Thursday of each month in the Sycamore High School Library at 6:00 pm. Parents of Sycamore District music students are invited to join us at a meeting to find out about exciting fundraising events, and music program activities.
