SYCAMORE MUSIC BOOSTERS ANNOUNCE 2010 SCHOLARSHIPS
The Sycamore Music Boosters are accepting applications for the 2010 Summer Music Camp Scholarships, Senior
Music Scholarships, and Continuing College Music Scholarships. Summer camp scholarships are $250 for each qualifying
student, and graduating senior music scholarships and continuing college music scholarships are $500 for single
scholarship awards.
Deadlines for the applications are as follows: Summer Music Camp Scholarships - Friday, April 16, 2010; Senior
Music Scholarships – May 1, 2010; Continuing College Music Scholarships – July 15, 2010. Applications for all
scholarships are available on the Sycamore Music Booster website at www.sycamoremusicboosters.com. In addition,
students can pick up camp scholarship applications from their music teacher, and senior music scholarship applications
are available in the Sycamore High School Guidance Office.
The Sycamore Music Booster Summer Music Camp scholarships will be awarded to eligible Sycamore school band,
orchestra and choir students. Sycamore music students who are currently in grades 6-11 may apply. Students must
be enrolled in the Sycamore school district music program for the 2010-2011 school year to be eligible. The camp
scholarships are awarded to students attending camps that are at least one week in length. In addition, students
must have already selected a particular camp they will attend, since the scholarship checks are made out directly
to the camp. In order to be considered, students must hand in a completed and signed application to their Sycamore
school music teacher by the required scholarship deadline. Students and parents wanting music camp information
should consult with their music teacher as soon as possible.
Sycamore High School graduating seniors who are intending to major in music in college can apply for a Senior
Music Scholarship. One or several scholarships will be awarded, based on the applications. To be considered, students
must be accepted as a music student at a four-year undergraduate college/university, and submit all application
materials by the required deadline. Scholarship recipients will be announced at the SHS Senior Awards Night.
The Continuing College Music Scholarships will be awarded to one or several Sycamore High School graduates
who are currently majoring in music in college. To be considered, students must be a Sycamore High School graduate
and majoring in music, a college junior or senior during the 2010-2011 academic year, and submit all application
materials by the required deadline.
